…because you're beautiful

Fine Art

Best of Both Worlds

Oak Run makes the perfect retreat for a hardworking executive like Carla.   Kelly and Carla enjoy the peace and quiet of their home in the hills when they aren’t jetting around the country.   Carla will be featured in Texas Techsan Magazine.   Texas Tech is her and Kelly’s alma mater.  Here’s a sneak peak of our shoot yesterday evening.   What a gorgeous view of Mt. Lassen and the foothills.  I had a ton of fun creating images that tell their story of  creating a lifestyle where they can live in the beauty of  Northern California and work in the High Tech industry.

Fall Fun

We had a blast on this shoot.  Three little boys on a beautiful day in a park means good times.   These guys were fast!  They ran circles around me.. literally.  We got lots of  giggles.  Then the sweet reward of  bubbles.  The littlest one was the best bubble maker I ever met.  Amazing talent!

These are for you Grandma!

Family Memories

The fall colors were in full “bloom” at the park.  We took advantage of them and went out to have some fun.  It was a bit cold though on Saturday.  Brrrr.  Enjoy.

What I have learned- Color My World

More and more I discover that I love painting.  I used water color painting as a tool to enhance my photograph.    WOW!   My teacher Arthur Rainville showed me this technique that he uses to create fabulous pieces.   I studied under him for an entire week at West Coast School in San Diego two weeks ago.   I had the privilege of being the class assistant to Arthur and Anne Clay.  What a magical time.  I miss the many moments we had of just enjoying the beauty around us.  I’d love to hear your feedback.  Do you like this?  Hate it? Think it’s cool or funky?

Happy New Year !

Well, how did your 2011 go?  Diana feels like she ran a marathon and won the race.   Thank you to all of our clients (friends)  for a fabulous 2011.

Diana earned her Certified Professional Photographer (CPP)  from the Professional Photographers Association.  3 of Diana’s works were chosen for display at the Imaging USA  2012 convention in New Orleans.  And she also won many blue and gold ribbons at print competitions in California.

But Diana’s favorite honor is being invited in to your families to capture your beauty.  The beauty God has created in everyone of us.  We had so much fun creating these memories for you.  We just love all of our new friends and are so grateful for the trust you placed in us.    We are going strong in 2012 and we will  be there for all of your special occasions and for those important milestones.  Blessings to you in the new year!  Diana and Mike Vader

StoryBook Fun

I have been working on a Storybook and wanted to share a spread.  This is one of my most popular products.  A 15 spread (double sided page) StoryBook is the favorite.  It comes in both a 6.5 x 6.5 inch and an 8 x 8 inch book.  Almost everyone orders one because you can get so many more images and have a great way to show them to family and friends.  It’s a very creative process.  I custom design each one.  In this image I created a crisp black and white version and added in clouds for drama.  Taylor looks just stunning here in her cute dress.   It takes a long time to make a StoryBook but they are so worth it.  I hope I can make one for you soon if I haven’t already done so.

Are you getting ready for your Fall / Christmas pictures?  I’ll be posting a special soon to capture the images you will treasure for a lifetime.  Stay tuned for a great offer.

New Finishing Techniques to Enhance Your Portraits

Check out our new hand painted art pieces.  I have been enjoying painting these and I would love your feedback and comments.   The process takes hours as layers upon layers of paint and textures are applied to give a richness to the art.  All created digitally of course.

Simpson University Hires Diana Vader Photography

Mark Wood, Director of Marketing and Communication and Travis Quam, Creative Design Manager of Simpson University are putting together an ad campaign for a number of their programs.  Featured will be students from these programs like Master of Divinity, RN and Education.  Landmark locations familiar to Redding residents such as Lassen, Mt. Shasta, Burney Falls etc. are featured along with the student.  Travis put his amazing graphic design talents to work to create the final poster art.  Check out their website at  simpsonu.edu for more info on their fabulous graduate and undergraduate programs.  Here are two of the posters that you may see around town.  I’ll be posting others as they are ready for publication.  Thanks Mark and Travis for being so wonderful to work with.

This location is Mt. Shasta as seen from McConnell Foundation’s Lema Ranch park on Shasta View Drive.   Ron went through the ASPIRE program to continue his education in nursing.  Congratulations Ron!  Ron works for Shasta Regional Medical Center.

Western and Water

We had such a good time yesterday with Nicole’s shoot.  There was a country theme in the beginning and then it got fancy with a gorgeous dress and water.  We had talked about a cowboy hat but she didn’t have time to get one so we hopped back over to our house and picked one up.  I’m so glad we did because it was just perfect on her.  After a very warm day.. 104 in Redding I was worried that we would melt but up at Whiskeytown Lake it was a cool 95.  We were a little warm but once we got shooting we didn’t even notice it.  I did something a photographer’s never supposed to do during a shoot.  Can you guess what it was?  No, I did not fall in the lake.  I got teary-eyed.  Nicole looked so pretty that I couldn’t help myself.  Thanks Nicole for a fabulous time.  Here’s your sneak peak.

Trip to Oregon Coast

Wow wow wow. A shout out to Russ at Hawk's Rest Ranch. The horseback ride on the beach was fab-you-lus. I was only a little saddle sore the next day. My friend Debra went with me and we walked around bow legged after that outing. The beach was amazing. This was my first trip up to Oregon and I was like a crazy woman runnning around photographing. The Cape Ferello lookout is unreal, fantastic and amazing. My favorite beach was Lone Ranch. Great for kids too. We saw the giant bunny rabbit at that beach. Here's some goodies I shot.The Bunny Rabbit

The Painter

Inspired by The Dancing Butler by Jack Vettriano I made this particular piece.  One day I want to photograph the same image below on the beach.  Anyone want to go?  It will have to be a rainy blustery day with the sun peaking through on the east coast.  I can see there may be some problems with this for those who want to go with me.  Oh Well.  See my color “painted” version of The Painter – You Paint My World.

Spring Green {Redding, CA Photographer}

Went out on the ranch today to do some location shoot recon. It was just gorgeous out there and Lucy the Aussie had a pretty good time too. Thanks Tonnie for the great time. Enjoy the images.  Can’t wait for Saturday’s shoot.  Pray for good weather.

St. Helena {Redding, CA Photographer}

We had a blast with the Coon family.  The vines were in full color and made a stunning backdrop.   We shot for the whole afternoon.  Thanks ya’ll for a great time.  See you soon.
